So, I joined the……

The Shrink-a-Versary Extravaganza Challenge

Yeah, and heres what it is according to the blog post

November marks the one-year anniversary of The Sisterhood of the Shrinking Jeans. ONE YEAR! In the past year, we’ve had 6 weight loss challenges, several fitness challenges, and mini-challenges galore. We have members who’ve been with us from day 1, and we’ve been joined by so many wonderful people along the way. We are grateful for each and every one of you, and what you’ve brought to the Sisterhood! We’ve also had the support of some amazing companies, large and small, during our first year. Some of whom we approached and others who came to us because they knew we had something special here at the Sisterhood.

So, to kick off our anniversary, or Shrink-a-Versary as we like to call it, we’re starting a brand new challenge today! As always, this challenge will focus on losing weight, or shrinking, but we’ll also be throwing in an awesome fitness challenge as well. AND, to thank each and every one of you, and celebrate our Shrink-a-Versary in style, we’ll be having a giveaway-a-day extravaganza starting on the 1st and running through the entire month of November. Thirty amazing giveaways in 30 days!

Our fitness challenge is going to be a blast this time around, too. On November 9th, we’ll all lace up our walking and running shoes and start logging our miles! That’s right, this time our challenge will be one everyone can take part in, whether you walk or run, indoors or outdoors, rain or shine! You don’t have to have any fancy equipment, just a pair of comfy shoes and the gumption to get up and get moving. Each weigh-in (starting November 11th) we’ll report our weight AND our miles, and at the end of the challenge we’ll tally up the pounds lost and miles walked/ran by all of our members! Our Biggest Shrinker and our Globetrotting Champ.

Here’s the skinny:

  1. Each Wednesday you’ll weigh-in and blog about your results. Then you’ll come to the Sisterhood and leave your permalink (link to your post) in the comments section of the weigh-in post. After you’ve done that, make sure to go around to all of your Sisters (and Brothers) blogs and leave them some Sisterhood love!
  2. Starting November 1st, we’ll have a giveaway each day, so you’ll want to make sure and stop in each day to enter. You’ll have several chances to win, and each giveaway will end at midnight Pacific time that day. Winners will be announced the next morning.
  • Our fitness challenge will kick-off on November 9th, the day after the Sisterhood’s virtual EA Sports Active 5K, and run until the end of this challenge, Wednesday December 16th.
  • So, I am doing it…who else is?

    Chicken Strips

    Tuesday, August 18th, 2009

random 236This was sooo good!  I got this out of a Weight Watchers cookbook, but changed it around to make it more delicious!

    • 1/4 cup dry Italian breadcrumbs
    • 2 tablespoons grated parmasean cheese (I used a light parmasean cheese that I got at Wal-Mart)
    • 6 chicken tenders (I used chicken breasts and cut them into thirds)
    • Honey Mustard or Dijon (this is used to coat the chicken)
    • Cooking spray

    So here’s what you do!

    1. Combine the breadcrumbs and parmasean in a plastic bag.
    2. Coat the chicken in the honey mustard or dijon then place in plastic bag and shake until the tenders are covered.
    3. Then stick the chicken in the oven on 400* until they’re finished!

These are only four points!!  Yummy!!

    Weight Loss Goals

    Monday, August 17th, 2009

So, I think it’s important for me to set goals and rewards.  It’s something I have been thinking a lot about lately.  You have to set goals that are reachable and rewards that will make you want to get there.  So, here are my goals and rewards:

    • 10 pounds – New book
    • 20 pounds – Dinner at new restaurant in town
    • 30 pounds – 1/2 Hour Massage
    • 45 pounds – {Half Way Point!!} Really good ticket to a sporting event
    • 60 pounds – One Hour Massage
    • 70 pounds – New outfit
    • 80 pounds – Vacation {spot yet to be determined}
    • 90 pounds – {I did it!} This is kind of personal for me, so I will tell you once I hit it. :)

What are your goals and rewards?

    Ready or not…

    Monday, August 17th, 2009

School starts in exactly one week.  I have spent my summer interning, working, took a class, and working some more.  I didn’t get a vacation.  My internship is over on Wednesday *WOO* and I will be heading down to Nashville, TN, for a weekend of good times with some of my closest friends/family.

So, since I am heading down either Thursday evening or Friday night, I have decided to set some goals for the weekend.

    1. Bring my own snacks.  I tend to do better on my diet when I am able to snack.  Providing my own will help keep me focused.
    2. Go for diet drinks.  This is my downfall, whenever I go on a diet I have to stop drinking soda completely.  Mainly because I hate diet soda.  It’s one of those things once you start, you can’t stop.  So if we’re go out, I will opt for diet instead of regular.
    3. Find some time to excercise.  Thankfully Nashville is one of those towns that everything is lumped together so you walk everywhere, that will help.  I am going to put together a “plan” of excercises that I could do while I am there.
    4. Remember portions.  The biggest thing that I am changing is my portion control.  If I can do that, especially when I am out, I think I will be good.

I’ve also found a cool article, on how to stay on your diet while you’re on your vacation.  You can find their tips after the jump.
